Vesa Puhakka

Dr. Vesa Puhakka works as Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship and Head of Department of Management at the University of Oulu’s Business School. He is doing research especially on entrepreneurship and new venture creation and trying to understand the emerging mechanisms of becoming an international entrepreneur, opportunity-creating processes and growth of new ventures and as well strategy practices of new ventures. His research group has been a forerunner in entrepreneurship and business research and education. Puhakka is also committed to work outside the university and is a member of board of directors of companies, educates actively especially ICT-companies and serves the university to fulfil its third mission and to help remote areas to create new business and prosperity. The Academy of Management and the NFIB Education Foundation awarded his doctoral dissertation for outstanding research in the fields of entrepreneurship and independent business in 2003.
